Our Team

Dr. Chain obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of California, San Diego. Following her time in San Diego, she acquired her doctorate degree in Chicago from Illinois College of Optometry. She completed rigorous externships in ocular disease hospitals during her final year of school and received clinical letters of excellence in all rotations. In addition to her rotations, Dr. Chain completed a prestigious Residency at VA Long Beach Healthcare specializing in traumatic brain injury and low vision. In addition, she researched age related macular degeneration at Shiley Eye Center at UCSD.  Outside of work, Dr. Paige Chain enjoys spending time biking along the 56 freeway and hiking around San Diego with her family.

Dr. Julia Richardson joined Focal Optometry in 2022. She is a graduate of the UC Berkeley School of Optometry and completed a residency in ocular disease at the San Diego VA. Dr. Richardson is originally from Ohio but loves living and enjoying the outdoors in sunny San Diego with her daughter and husband.

Dr. Chung completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and then received his Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California. He completed his clinical training at the San Diego Naval Hospital, Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Arizona, and the University Eye Center at Los Angeles.

Dr. Chung is excited to bring his expertise in myopia control, ocular disease, contact lens, dry eye, and macular degeneration to this practice. He is determined to help you achieve all your eye care goals. You can find Dr. Chung hiking and avidly playing and watching basketball outside of work.
